Hear Susan Alberti AC’s inspiring story first-hand
Susan Alberti AC is a formidable woman. She has co-founded and directed a large building company, chaired her own medical research foundation which raised more than $200 million to help find a cure for type 1 diabetes, and been a role model and mentor for young women across the country. Most notably, acting as a driving force in the establishment of the AFL National Women’s League.
Susan’s story and philanthropic contributions have been recognised by the Governor General and the City of Melbourne with Susan being awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) in 2018, and Melbournian of the Year in 2017.
Now, you too can hear her inspiring story first-hand. Not just her long list of achievements, but how she faced and fearlessly smashed stereotypes, discrimination, and inequality throughout her career in industries that were typically dominated by men.
Her lived experience in confronting stereotypes, discrimination, and inequality are all issues that this year’s International Women’s Day aims to address through its #BreakTheBias campaign.
Several other powerhouse women – including Julie Murphy from Palliative Care South East and Sue Williams from Cabrini Health – will also be joining Susan and Bayside City Council Mayor Cr Alex del Porto on stage for a discussion on how we can all stand together to #BreakTheBias in our workplaces and communities.
Thea McCroary, Prestige Inhome Care Acting CEO says:
“As a company that’s committed to being diverse and inclusive, it was important to us to platform the crucial topics that this year’s International Women’s Day aims to address. And after great lengths of time apart (because of COVID-19) as an industry and community, we couldn’t think of a more important reason to make this the first Prestige Inhome Care event of the year.
Having Susan Alberti agree to sharing her inspiring story and lived experience in breaking biases is also a real honour. Her philanthropic contributions have captured my attention. As a mother who has a son who has only recently been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, it’s a subject that’s very close to my own heart and family.”
