Becoming A Registered Nurse

There are a number of reasons you should become a registered nurse. These include:

Registered Nursing Qualifications

To become a registered nurse, you need to complete a Bachelor of Nursing. After you have applied for registration and been accepted, you will then be required to get all relevant vaccinations. A Working With Children Check and National Police Check will also be required.

You should expect to gain the following by completing your Bachelor of Nursing degree:

  • Provide care to individuals from diverse backgrounds across different stages of their life
  • Be highly literate in the use and management of information and evidence-based knowledge for best practices across a variety of healthcare settings
  • Demonstrate leadership through the use of personal, intellectual, and creative autonomy
  • Exhibit personal values and beliefs consistent with your role as responsible members of local, national and international, and professional communities 
  • Recognise and value communication as a tool for negotiation
  • Creating new understandings by interacting with others, and furthering your own learning
  • Engage effectively in the therapeutic care of a variety of individuals’ health care needs.

Once you have completed your course, you’ll need to apply to the AHPR to practice as a registered nurse. You will need to renew this registration annually.
